Throwback Thursday: “My Way” by Frank Sinatra

Or rather, popularized by Frank Sinatra. The music and lyrics were composed in ’67, but no one knew about this song until the renowned crooner released his “cover”. I was actually surprised to see this came out in the late 60s (1969 by special request), as I always peg him as a 50s man, but once you stop to think about Sinatra and his legacy, it makes sense that his greatest music transcends all periods of his career. This song holds a special place in my heart, as it was played at both of my grandfather’s funerals, and when I look back on their lives and the stories I’ve heard about their lives, I regret not connecting with them more and sharing in their wisdom. I’m sure they’re both looking down, smiling that I’m doing it “my way”, if you will, doing what I love in the city I’ve grown to love. Enjoy the song, cherish your family, and do what you love. Peace.
