Throwback Thursday: “Crystal Blue Persuasion” by Tommy James and the Shondells

As if being a creative genius and producing one of the greatest television shows ever wasn’t enough, Vince Gilligan has also been a master at selecting songs for the soundtrack of my obsession, Breaking Bad. The title of the 1969 song (unintentionally) draws obvious parallels to Walter White’s famous blue meth, and its guitar and keys give it just enough of a southwestern feel to make it seem like the song came straight out of Albuquerque. Enjoy this, and enjoy the montages that Gilligan and The Simpsons have provided us.
