Throwback Thursday: “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper

Honestly, I was trying to think of a favorite throwback of mine from the metal or hard rock genre, but I usually prefer to write on something that is somehow relevant. I have to be inspired somehow. And whaddya know, this song came up in Parks and Recreation. Reason enough to me.

Lauper’s Top 5 hit was released in 1984, which is no surprise judging by its sound. It screams 80s high school dance (especially since it was in that Napoleon Dynamite scene). Does anyone remember the cover no-name band Quietdrive got radio play for back in 2006? Ugh. It’s safe to say the original is better.

What do you all think of when you hear this song? Was it in other movies like I suspect, or is this image from Napoleon just THAT ingrained in my head?
